We have been discussing where to send Dominic to K in the fall. There are pros and cons of each - private Catholic vs public. As fate (or faith) would have it, the Catholic school principle announced tonight at Mass that there would be an open house tonight at the school. So the whole family decided it was time to take the tour and meet the principle. She seems very nice and interested in getting a great program under way again.
She said that the K class size will be limited to 10 students again next fall. One thing I felt odd about was that kindergarterns take naps after lunch - this may prove a problem since Dominic hasn't napped in 3 yrs!
Do most K's do this? Seems strange to me....but maybe my child is out of the "norm" for napping.
She did say that if Dominic is more advanced in certain areas, they are willing to work on a more accelerated cirriculm for him. That is good news to us since he can already do 2nd grade math in his head. She also said they work closely with the public school gifted program - again, great news to us.
I'm going to meet more in depth with her in 2 wks so we can discuss these and other things weighing in our decision. But right now, I'm beginning to lean more towards Catholic school - at least until 3rd grade - I'm still not impressed with the upper levels - they just don't have the same resources available (like for science, biology, computers, etc.)
What we really love is we feel Dominic is a better fit for a smaller environment - socially. I told Mark we will just need to continue to pray about this matter and hopefully make the right decision for Dominic's future.
Being the mom to 3 boys, I have learned cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.

Empty Nest Today
I'm alone in my house on a weekday morning for the first time in over 5 years. While I am cherishing some "me" time, I'm also getting sentimental - because this morning is a preview of what this fall will be like when both boys go to school.
Dominic is star of the week this week at school. As a reward to Luke for his great potty training success, he was invited to spend this week with Dominic at school. Both boys were so excited and everything must be going great because the school hasn't called to pick up Luke early.
While I will enjoy my time in this fall, I'm hoping that by spring my days will once again be filled with chasing little feet and changing diapers. That's right folks - we have officially decided to go for IVF #7! No date yet.....we will keep you posted.

Welcome 2010 Update
Wow - so much has happened since my last post.
Christmas was womderful - the boys were very excited and didn't like Santa again this year. At least some things never change!
We found out that my aunt (Mom's sister) was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors. One was the size of a grapefruit and the other a golf ball. We were unsure whether or not she would even survive the surgery - but many prayers later and skillful surgeon hands and she is recovering in a rehab unit. The tumors are benign and the the surgeon was able to remove the larger one intact.
My niece, Addison, is now at home as well recovering from RSV. She spent about 48 hours in the hospital - where she learned to hate respiratory therapists and nurses! Luckily she still likes me even when giving her breathing treatments.
We have also had a consult with a new RE. Mark and I both really liked this man and believe that he may be able to help us grow our family. If we decide to try again, we will be doing so this spring. No reason to wait....time is not on our side.
We are also planning on taking the kids on a vacation this spring - on a cruise to Cozumel! I think I'm more excited than anyone - I just really need some sunshine and warmth. However, no one is looking forward to the 13 hour drive to the ship!
I entered Luke into the Regis and Kelly Baby Contest. I'm sure the outcome will be the same as years past - nothing for us - even though they are passing up two of the MOST adorable kids EVER - but that is their loss!
I will post some current pictures some time this week.
